Though it was an experience of merely four days, the tight schedule, and more importantly, the interesting contents, sure made every minute count. Now the people that have not really participated in this event may put too much emphasis on the three hours of the competition, which is virtually just a cruel game, they may not have realized how brave and generous all the 42 competitors are, put aside their excellence in the use of the language of English.

It may surprise you that though many of us were there in the hope of going to Australia, but we could really be friends, seriously. Now if you think I am being hypercritic, then I am sure that you were certainly not there. The contestants are all nice individuals from all over Zhejiang province, so it was quite interesting talking about each others’ hometown, and it sure was funny, though not very informative, when we use our own dialect when speaking.

Now let me give you something concrete, how would you feel if you get “You are very handsome.” 25 times a day, look at my picture and you will see how nice these people are to say so, that sure was a flattering compliment to me. In those four days, we had lunch together, we took bus together, and we shared rooms with each other. Everyone was so interesting and full of surprises, friendly yet confident. I learned a lot from the others, besides the WA, now I have a clearer picture of what other places in this province are like, and I am sure that the other contestant got rid the idea that everyone from Wenzhou is an illiterate millionaire, see, I am neither of the two.

To be totally honest and unashamedly, I have to admit that I have never heard of Western Australia before I took part in this competition, all I knew about Australia was kangaroo, but now I can talk about only one aspect of the WA and go on and on for hours. I feel very sorry for the excellent contestants that can not go to WA with us, but I still feel happy for the ones that get to go, including myself. As some of you know, that my Chinese name means Travel Around the World, I am more than excited to have Australia as my first step out of Asia.
